Second Season Episodes - The Space Vikings (episode 49)

Smith is pitted against the mighty Thor of Valhalla. 

A storm looms up, and the two gloves and hammer of Thor appear from space and slide onto Dr. Smith's hands. Smith tosses the hammer away, but it sails into the Jupiter 2 area, blasting a crater in the ground. Brynhilde, a Valkyrie, shows up on her winged horse and takes Smith and the Robot to Valhalla to decide which of them is the real conquering hero.

Smith accidentally drops one glove. Will has seen Smith and the Robot disappear, but John and Maureen doubt him. In Valhalla, Brynhilde tells Smith he must battle Thor. As Thor arrives to retrieve his gloves and hammer, Smith retreats. He finds one glove missing, and without it he cannot wield the hammer. When Thor finds one glove missing, he puts Smith in the pit of Nifflheim- inhabited by elves and the fearsome Frost Giant -and returns to the Robinsons' planet to retrieve it.

Will has found the two gloves Smith made and the real glove. Thor tries to retrieve the gloves from Will, but John appears, and Thor is forced to take Will and the gloves to Valhalla. Thor complains that Brynhilde cut a starmaze around his chariot. When Smith agrees that Brynhildeis a menace, Thor angrily challenges him to battle. At the Robot's suggestion, Smith pretends to squeeze water from rocks. Thor is awed. Then Smith taunts Thor that his strength is derived only from the gloves. Further, he infects Thor's innocent psyche with a list of insecurities and self-doubts.

Only when Brynhilde is threatened does Thor blindly hurl the hammer at the giant, devouring him in a great explosion. Brynhilde sends Will and the Robot home on her horse, and Smith returns on a treasure chest he found in Nifflheim. The chest is found to contain nothing but dried dragonflies -a delicacy in Valhalla. 

Ray says: The future Mrs Irwin Allen makes a guest apperance in this episode as Brynhilde.
