The Robinsons are tried by a mysterious tribunal for committing space crimes.
An energized fence imprisons everyone in the Robinson campsite. A voice intones Galaxy Tribunal of Justice plans to try the Jupiter 2 crew for crimes committed in space. Neither Smith nor the Robot are mentioned. First John is summoned by an alien voice which commands him to place a memory machine on his head.
He is asked to explain why the Jupiter 2 went off course after a perfect launching. Don, who is questioned next, is charged with allowing a contaminated wrench to become lost in space. Will is accused with shortening the life span of the Bubble Creatures by defreezing them in their derelict spaceship. When Smith learns he is to be called next, he enlists Will and the Robot in an escape. Holding the entire crew responsible for Smith' s escape, the voice gives the Robinson's two hours to find the fugitive or they will be imprisoned on the planet Dolfirm.
Smith is located, and though he tries to bluff his way out of trouble, he is found guilty by the tribunal. The Robinson's are vindicated and Smith receives clemency on the grounds of insanity -on one condition: he is to be placed in the custody of the Robot.
